Restrictions on higher fat, sugar and salt product promotions, delayed until 2025

In a recent announcement, the UK government has decided to postpone the implementation of restrictions on promotions related to higher fat, sugar, and salt (HFSS) products. The ruling would have seen heavy restrictions placed on the likes of buy one, get one free deals.
The move aims to support businesses that have been hit hard by rising costs of food and energy, whilst also giving consumers the opportunity to capitalise on multi-buy offers,,
Since its announcement, the ruling has sparked a mixture of support and criticism and has encounter a number of previous delays to its implementation. With many businesses already preparing to incorporate these changes, the further delay may ignite further uncertainty as to it’s current state.
