Remembering Kris Hallenga: A Tribute to a Remarkable Advocate

In a world often clouded by its own distractions, there are individuals whose light shines so brightly that it pierces through the darkness of adversity, inspiring countless others along the way.

Kris Hallenga was undeniably one of those remarkable souls. This weekend, as news of her passing spread, we collectively mourned the loss of a true champion for change.

A Beacon of Light In the Fight Against Cancer

At just 23 years old, Kris was confronted with a diagnosis that would alter the course of her life: secondary breast cancer. Rather than succumbing to despair, Kris embarked on a journey fuelled by determination, courage, and an unwavering commitment to make a difference. For the past 15 years, she tirelessly campaigned, all the while navigating the challenges of living with cancer herself. Kris wasn’t just fighting for her survival; she was fighting to empower others and amplify a crucial message: “being alive and doing things.”

“From the first moment I met Kris in 2011, you ask yourself how can this woman have so much energy, drive and passion.”

Becky Munday, IPM Board Member

Through creating CoppaFeel, Kris pioneered a movement that transcended boundaries, sparking conversations, challenging taboos, and saving lives in the process. Her tireless efforts touched countless hearts, resonating with individuals from all walks of life.

For years, the IPM has stood in solidarity with CoppaFeel, championing its positive messages and contributing to its noble cause. Through events like the annual IPM Awards, the organisation and its members have helped raise tens of thousands of pounds, furthering Kris’s mission and ensuring her impact continues.

Becky Munday, ex-Chair and board member of the IPM, shared poignant words reflecting on Kris’s passing. “From the first moment I met Kris in 2011, you ask yourself how can this woman have so much energy, drive and passion. Kris was full of life and full of smiles and love. As she said at her Funeral, “I love my life”. only she would organise a Funeral so she could be at her party.

I am honoured to have made CoppaFeel The IPM nominated charity and helped support the amazing work, lives saved and changed beyond count. Also, having the amazing opportunity to go on a CoppaFeel trek and meet so many girls who owe Kris everything. Today is a day to remember life is short; live every day and always look for a way to glitter a turd. Kris, sleep well knowing you were truly loved, admired and an inspiration to all.
